I was soo tired yesterday that I couldnt write about my first day with Matt and Haley in San Diego.
Matt came to pick me up at the airport just like he said he would. Acutally he appeared just behind me while I was waiting for my luggage at the carrier....We HAD TALKED LIKE 2 MIN ONLY BEFORE THE DAY BEFORE AND i COULD HARDLY HEAR BECAUSE i WAS IN A NOIZY CAR (oups caplocks) and even I immadietley fell he was a nice guy, you know in my guts I had tha impression. THat was confiirmed throughout the day.
As soon as we got to his place he generously alreday jump into introducing me to the kinbaku esthetics through different rare and precious books they had accumulated with effort adn determination throughout many years of dedication. I fell and still feel very lucky an dhonored for their trust and generosity. Haley is a wonderful quiete passionate woman. She seflets all the way the asian in her even though she is not. But she has been dedicating her life to studying kinabaku for the last 10 years full time now and being Master K assistant for the last couple of years now. I am one of the rare guest theyve had like this.
SO after I have seen the the photogrpahys of different Bakushis, my head filled with those incredible images...I was very fond of Nureki, for the pain torture with beauty, he then put some ore on dvd...I was amaezed to finallly finding out about the other bakushis in Japan, other then Harasue Go....Really inspiring....
I was tired abd overload with it but very very happy to say the least.
THen they invited me for dinner at a very cute mexican restaurant...We talked, I got to know them more then I had the chance to have a little tour of San Diego...I saw ans smell a very nice beach, open to all, very kool, I could see my self going there at night, Saw downtown very buzy, they have bikers that can carry you in a seat behind, like in NY and surprisingly I saw a lot of women doing this job.
I was tired so he drove me back to my hotel.
I woke up early this morning, 8h30! had a lot of dreams, at a certain point I opened my eayes didnt know where I was for a few seconds...anyway I got to train, and study Harisue Go a bit....even that is a great opportunity for me...I wil definitely order his books and Dvd..then he picked me up and went to this amazing japenese grocery store...wow just wow! I wouls have stayed there for 2 hours buying all kind of goodies...we went also to this also amazing japenese bookstore full of mangas, artbooks, models books and sometimes they have kinbaku books but its rare still and hidden behind the counter..like the tattoo books. there too I would have stayed a few hours...thenb we went to eat guess what, at a japenese restaurant. As cheap as the Pho restaurant in Montreal but very very good and fresh and typical. I had ramen..mmmmmh the egg was delicious...intersting they had garlic puree on every table....
anyway Matt had problems with finding me a model to practice so we watched other dvds of bakushi including one featuring Harisue Go, naruki and yukimura and interviews with them which I didnt understand a word of course. But I was captivated...especially tieh the masterpiece Naruki did with this great model tied up to a pole...ooo I woudl ike to be tied up like that one day and do it to someone too!!!!
THen I met Opal...very cuite nice littel woman...we ended up tying eachother tonight and I really likeher I even invited her over to my place to do some more rope together and party. She seems to be very interested.
I met a bunch of people frome the Demonsix group. We all practice in Matt's studio. I tied up a bit, learned some new tie and I got supsende! weeeee! my little cherry for the day.
TOmotrro heading to LA to have a class with Master K!!! I am soo excited thrilled and happy!
